Last November I told you about my story Uplift, which got a 'highly commended' in Writers' Forum magazine's August flash fiction competition. I also told you that I took the editor's advice, rewrote the ending (Carl thought it was a trice laboured) and resubmitted the story almost immediately.
Well, guess what?
That's right, the story's been picked up by Australia's That's Life! magazine and will be published next week, renamed The Way Up - Uplift always did sound like I was trying to be a bit of a clever dick.
Which just goes to show how important it is to review and re-edit your work and put it out there again when, or if, it comes back as a dreaded rejection.
