'Willy' Published in 'Fast Fiction', Australia under Title 'The Imaginary Boy'

Imaginary Friend

My disturbing supernatural tale, Willy, about an imaginary (or is he?) friend, has been published by Fast Fiction, Australia, under the title The Imaginary Boy. I'm not too sure about the title, since it sort of gives away much of the plot of the story, however I'm glad this story has reached the light of day since stories where children become innocent victims are notoriously difficult to sell.

A few months ago I read a heart-warming story about a mischievous imaginary friend who ends up having a heart of gold. So I re-imagined the story, making the imaginary friend a malicious spirit and taking the plot in a whole new direction with a particularly horrific outcome for the little girl with the 'imaginary' friend.

What I particularly enjoy about writing for Fast Fiction is that they're willing to take a chance on quirky stories that are on the periphery of their guidelines rather than playing safe.

Anyhow, must get back to another quirky story I've currently got on the boil.
