The genie story, Flying Beds and Invisibility Suits, is based on what my son would have wished for if he had three wishes from a genie.
I explained to my son that sometimes a malicious genie will ensure that your wishes are not fulfilled in the way you expected, so for each of his wishes I got him to think up a way it could go wrong.
When he finished the story, I indicated places that editing was needed (i.e. spelling mistakes and dubious grammar), before he wrote up the story in his school book for English.
A couple of years down the line and I thought I'd submit the story to Tempo. Then hey presto, it was accepted:
